ASSOCIATE

About This Job:

We seek smart, entry-level associate candidates to join our public relations team. Associates work closely with senior employees in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

No two days are the same at Group Gordon. Account teams work in a variety of industries and issue areas across our corporate, public affairs, and crisis practices. Our efforts are aimed at building clients’ media profiles, forging relationships, and developing creative solutions to tough problems. We are excellent writers, meticulous researchers, and strategic thinkers looking for candidates who are up for a challenge.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of accounts
  • Assisting in the development of strategic communications plans and day-to-day recommendations
  • Pitching stories to reporters, producers, bloggers, and editors
  • Drafting and editing documents such as press releases, media advisories, op-eds, blog posts, and memos
  • Monitoring traditional and social media coverage of clients and their competitors
  • Building and maintaining media lists
  • General research
  • Administrative tasks

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Positive, go-get-‘em, team-oriented attitude
  • Highly organized, detailed, and resourceful
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Excellent research skills
  • Genuinely interested in current events and the news, with a sense of what’s newsworthy
  • Intellectually curious, creative, and eager to learn
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Public Relations Intern

The Group Gordon Internship Program provides firsthand experiences to develop research, writing, and pitching skills to students interested in public relations. Interns are fully integrated into the firm and work closely with employees on a number of short-term and long-term client projects across our corporate, public affairs, and crisis practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting press releases, pitches, op-eds, and other written materials
  • Developing media lists, backgrounders, and other research documents
  • Monitoring traditional and social media coverage of clients and their competitors
  • Joining weekly client calls

The ideal candidates are highly organized, are exceptional writers, and enjoy research. This internship is paid and preference is given to rising seniors.

Marketing and Business Development Intern

The Group Gordon Marketing and Business Development intern will work closely with the marketing and business development team to expand the firm’s visibility through a variety of marketing tactics and support new client acquisition efforts by helping to identify and research potential clients. Interns will also work to support the firm’s social media activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Furthering new business development through conducting research and assisting with the prospecting and proposal processes
  • Assisting in drafting marketing materials, building marketing lists, and otherwise supporting the execution of GG’s marketing plan
  • Supporting day-to-day social media activity and campaign development and execution

The ideal candidate is highly organized with excellent writing and research skills. Design abilities a plus. This internship is paid and preference is given to rising seniors.
