About This Job:

We seek smart, entry-level associate candidates to join our public relations team. Associates work closely with senior employees in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

No two days are the same at Group Gordon. Account teams work in a variety of industries and issue areas across our corporate, public affairs, and crisis practices. Our efforts are aimed at building clients’ media profiles, forging relationships, and developing creative solutions to tough problems. We are excellent writers, meticulous researchers, and strategic thinkers looking for candidates who are up for a challenge.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of accounts
  • Assisting in the development of strategic communications plans and day-to-day recommendations
  • Pitching stories to reporters, producers, bloggers, and editors
  • Drafting and editing documents such as press releases, media advisories, op-eds, blog posts, and memos
  • Monitoring traditional and social media coverage of clients and their competitors
  • Building and maintaining media lists
  • General research
  • Administrative tasks

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Positive, go-get-‘em, team-oriented attitude
  • Highly organized, detailed, and resourceful
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Excellent research skills
  • Genuinely interested in current events and the news, with a sense of what’s newsworthy

MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

About This Job:

We seek a smart, entrepreneurial entry-level candidate for our PR firm’s marketing and business development team. The associate will support the firm’s (not the firm’s clients’) day-to-day marketing and business development activities.

No two days are the same at Group Gordon. The firm works in a growing variety of industries and issue areas, including corporate, nonprofit/public affairs, and crisis practices. We are strategic thinkers, meticulous researchers, and excellent writers looking for candidates who are up for a challenge.

The ideal candidate has excellent research and critical thinking skills, a go-get-‘em attitude, is highly organized, excels in writing and verbal communication, and demonstrates a strong interest in marketing, business development, social media, and content creation.

Main responsibilities:

  • Participate in the proposal and pitch process for potential new clients, including quantitative and qualitative research, drafting, editing, and presentation
  • Support the firm’s marketing activities, including but not limited to email marketing, social media, branded materials, events, awards, and speaking opportunities
  • Help develop and manage the firm’s social media channels and website
  • Monitor, review, and report on marketing activity and results, including social media activity and metrics
  • General research
  • Administrative tasks

Required skills and experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Excellent research and critical thinking skills
  • Highly organized and resourceful, with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Top-notch PowerPoint proficiency
  • Social media acumen
  • Intellectually curious, creative, and eager to learn
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred, but not required, skills: 

  • Graphic design ability, including experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and content management systems
  • General interest in public relations
  • Superhuman powers will be considered favorably
